Everything you need to know about the 26-27 Budget.

13 May 2026

Hi [NAME],

The Albanese Labor Government is delivering more tax cuts from 1 July for every Australian taxpayer, and I wanted to make sure you knew exactly what that means for you.

From this year, we're rolling out:

  • A $1,000 instant tax deduction with no receipts required
  • Three rounds of tax cuts
  • More medicines will be added to the PBS list

For the average worker, that adds up to nearly $3,000 in combined benefit compared to 2023–24 tax settings. Around 1.5 million Victorian workers will benefit from the instant deduction alone this year.

We're also cutting fuel taxes to help with the cost of filling up, because we know conflict overseas is pushing up prices here at home, from the servo to the supermarket.

And for those of you living in regional Victoria, this Budget does more than tax relief. Across our regions, we're delivering more bulk billing practices, cheaper medicines, and new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics including in Shepparton.

We're also investing in social and affordable housing, supporting first home buyers through the 5% Deposit Scheme, and backing local businesses with a permanent $20,000 instant asset write-off.

No matter what's happening in the world, we're focused on helping people keep more of what they earn.

If you have any questions or concerns, my team and I are here to help. You can email us at [email protected] or call (03) 9070 1920.

Stay deadly,
Senator Jana Stewart
